Prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is a much more common form of cancer in men (women do not have prostate glands and can not get prostate cancer, but they can inherit markers to their children). According to the American Cancer Society, about one in six men I get cancer in my lifetime. Fortunately, the growth of most prostate tumors is slow and early detection can reduce tumor size by treatment. Until recently, the best known risk factors for prostate cancer are age, ethnicity, and family history. Old age increases the risk for all types of cancer, but the implication of ethnicity and family involvement is also very genetic.
